Just like a small fruit fly in your cereal and milk is detestable and ruins the appetite of the whole dish so does a little folly ruin all of something good.
“Folly is the lack of good sense, foresight, or prudence, often resulting in foolish, absurd, or reckless actions, decisions, or wasteful undertakings.” (Google)
See Joshua 7:11-13
That is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies; they turn their backs and run because they have been made liable to destruction. I will not be with you anymore unless you destroy whatever among you is devoted to destruction Joshua 7:12 (emphasis added with bold)
There are hindrances in our lives that God tells us to cleanse ourselves from.
Do not bring a detestable thing into your house or you, like it, will be set apart for destruction.Regard it as vile and utterly detest it, for it is set apart for destruction. Deuteronomy 7:26
4 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments. Exodus 20:3-6
25 The images of their gods you are to burnin the fire. Do not covet the silver and gold on them, and do not take it for yourselves, or you will be ensnared by it, for it is detestable to the Lord your God.
Deuteronomy 7:25

God has blessing and provision and guidelines to follow to receive those things and a warning against other things with their repercussions.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. Hosea 4:6
The heart of him who has understanding seeks knowledge, but the mouths of fools feed on folly. Proverbs 15:14

Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work. (ESV 2Timothy 2:1)
“On that day of judgment,” says the Lord, “I will punish the leaders and princes of Judah and all those following pagan customs. I will punish those who participate in pagan worship ceremonies and those who fill their masters’ houses with violence and deceit. Zephaniah 1:8-9
A call for cleansing our vessels, our lives is a must if we are to be useful for the Lord’s work. It hinders us. We are the ones most affected by it. The Lord is affectionate and wants all of us. Just how we wouldn’t want to share part of our spouse with someone else, the Lord desires total commitment and faithfulness. With this lifestyle and posture we would be commissioned to work alongside Christ for Kingdom work; saving the lost into the family of Christ.
Let our hearts be ever so tender to feel His leading and touch on all areas in our life. God help us.
