Head above water

Life will try to pull you under. Circumstances and people may just be ignorant but the enemy tries to use those moments to attack you and pull you down out of your race. If you will just turn behind you or look down below you instead of keeping your gaze up and forward then you are more prone to distraction and weariness. People are all sinful and fleshly, we are by nature egotistical and that is why we need to crucify our fleshly desires daily and put on the nature of Christ.

It takes effort to have the heart of Christ. Being a believer does not automatically make you the hands and feet of Jesus and it doesn’t automatically make your eyes see the hurting. We are to grow in relationship with our Maker to know what hurts Him, how He sees the situation and what tools and abilities He has given to us for that moment to be His hands and feet. To do the things that please Him in secret, without vain conceit or wrong motives. Jesus washed the feet of His disciples, to the ones that would reject him, and yet we so many times take the other road from the ones who have offended us and spoken evil of us.

The question arises, is this the heart of Christ? Do we turn our cheek to offense and become vulnerable again to our offender? Or do we take up our case into our own hands instead of waiting for our vindication from the Lord.

Lord help us keep our gaze on You, always. Swimming with a purpose, available in obedience and full of love for all.
