First things first –
I am NOT a knitter. I can’t do anything complicated. Truth be told, I’m OK with that.
When life’s busy (when isn’t it?), I prefer to end my evenings using as little brain capacity possible. I need to unwind — and following a pattern of any type is more than I am capable of most days.
If you’re interested in learning how to do a simple knit stitch and make this blanket, I am definitely not your girl for a step-by-step tutorial. There are plenty of YouTube videos out there like this one.
One thing I can do is encourage you to make homemade gifts that are simple. I am a firm believer that despite the busy world that we live in and the hectic schedules we keep, making time for those we love is more important than it all. You may think “who has time to knit a blanket?” For me, the best time to make time for these special projects is after my kids have gone to bed and I’m unwinding. Food Network’s Chopped is on the TV, my husband is deep into the pages of the latest Bill Johnson book.
I order gifts off of Amazon with the best of us… please don’t paint this picture in your head that I’m a super woman! My hope is for you to feel encouraged and empowered to create for someone you love. It doesn’t need to be elaborate — my simple knit blanket proves that.
It was a joy to give my oldest sister Ashley this blanket as she awaited the arrival of her second child – her sweet baby girl Ella Grace. I’d love for you to check out some pictures of the intimate baby girl sprinkle thrown by the ladies in our family. You’ll notice this blanket draped over the crib in the pictures below!
